What do you do when a used item is returned?
Today, an item that was past the return deadline was returned.
The item is a watch.
When inspected, it was clearly used and had small scratches. The links had also been adjusted.
The Amazon return period had also passed.
We attach tags to the items before shipping and inform them that they cannot be returned if the tags are removed.
When a return request is received, we send a warning message to the buyer in accordance with Amazon's return policy that refunds cannot be made if the item has been used.
But the buyer still returned the item.
Returned items cannot be resold.
They will be worth less than half the retail price, including market value.
I had heard that Amazon's policy says that in that case, you don't have to refund the full amount, so I applied for a refund at a price reduced by 40%.
I'm sure there will be an AZ claim, but I want to fight against these unreasonable buyers.
What are you all doing?
I hope there will be fewer buyers like this.

You left out too many parts.
1. If an FBA return, do nothing. You paid Amazon to handle that end of your business.
2. If FBM sale.
Was it a RFS return? File a safe-T claim.
- Was the product sent new and sealed in the Cello Wrapping. Ask for a 50% restocking reimbursement + 20% late return fee.
Were you given the opportunity to refund upon arrival?
- Deduct the same as above, OR refund nothing because it weas not returned on time.
We always cancel the return request of day 31 after the delivery date if the product has not been mailed. No refund necessary. Buyers have complained, and Amazon has asked us to refund. BUT, we say no, and guess what, Amazon refunds the buyer in full at their expense. No metric dings received.
3. A-Z Claim. Not a problem. Just make sure you have everything on order to defend your claim when you make your decision on how to proceed when refunding.
- Photos of the product sent along with the buyer's, invoice.
- Photo of the returned product.
PDF copies of the Amazon Policies that apply to the situation.
