OA Price Tanking vs Wholesale

Hello all. I'm hoping to get insight from someone that has done OA as well as Wholesale on Amazon. Question: In general, how does wholesale listing price tanking compare with Online Arbitrage sourced items?

Sourcing from retailers online or brick and mortar is a violation of Amazon policy and code of conduct and a good way to get your account suspended or deactivated.

By sourcing from a retailer and listing an item as new on Amazon you would be misrepresenting the the product as "brand new" when the item has already been purchased once at retail and is therfore now "second hand" or used.

By selling a used item as new the item can be percieved as "inauthentic" and counterfiet as items come with guarantees and warrantees that apply to the original purchaser which make the item "materially differant"

Did you actually construct this gibberish meaningless term yourself?. If you could get it to rhyme it could actually rise to the level of silly doggerel.

"Sir Thopas was a doughty swain, White was his face as paindemain, His lippes red as rose. He had a seemly nose."

Don't tell me you have been reading Chaucer again?

While it is not against policy, Amazon is making it harder and harder for RA and OA. RA and OA sellers drive the price down but its usually not long-lasting bc they usually cant keep sourcing the same products. Wholesalers will give different prices for the same product to different buyers. You just need to be able to source your products for the lowest possible price and go from there. We have long-term relationships with a lot of our wholesalers which allows us better pricing than most.

I'm not sure how to compare. Basically RA sellers tank prices once other RA sellers hop onto a listing and battle for the buy box. Usually a penny less than another, eventually it becomes unprofitable for everyone on it and most sell it at a loss out of fear for losing all their money. RA sellers, I would assume of have much less inventory on hand than wholesalers too.

I think most RA sellers are beginners and are likely unaware they're losing a profit, or dont care while this is an actual business for wholesalers. Wholesalers seem to understand supply and demand more while RA just want to jump in and out real quick.

I will say when wholesalers do tank prices, of course they aren't allowed to sell at a higher rate per agreement with distributors, their supply never ends so at times it does for RA to sell at a loss or have a long hold product.

it’s just as bad, but kinda worse because there’s not as much fluctuation because everything is almost always replenishable.

Repricers suck and almost everyone uses them without resetting overnight so prices can have an opportunity to rise.

No one likes profit.

Distributors are the wholesalers. Amazon is a retail venue. If you are planning to buy from a wholesale supplier, and sell on Amazon you are selling retail.

With one method you can earn a livable wage and with one method you can't.

Using Arbitrage, you are always looking for one or two products that you can sell at a profit. Once sold, you start all over again.

Using a wholesaler, you pay what the retail store you want to buy from paid. You buy by the case lot and while they sell, you take the profit and invest in new products.

OA is alive and well, just need to be smart about it. And NO!, OA or RA is NOT against amazon policy in any way. Usually sellers that do this like to discourage other new sellers to save the market from being filled of others like them. I personally help bring in lots of new RA and OA sellers and encourage reselling. Don't listen to randos spouting negativity and false info just to discourage you. Good Luck my fellow positive resellers!
