Amazon International Selling & Shipping Issues - Amazon charges customer 1/3rd of shipping cost
I didn't pay much attention to Amazon's international Marketplace forced additions until we started getting a messages in Spanish at 2 am for Mexico sales - which at first was kind of cool.
Unfortunately, when I went to buy shipping for the items on Amazon, the only shipping option Amazon offered was $16.97, and the customer was only charged $5 (80.70 MXN) - and it appears we are unable to change the shipping charges in the listing for international listings?
I am not sure how this makes sense; I get Amazon wants independent, non-Temu style sellers living in poverty under a bridge if it can enrich their shareholders, but surely there should surely be an option to change this?
It doesn't make sense to enroll us in international marketplaces and then expect us to take 70% of the customer's shipping in the cost in the prison pocket - at that point we're literally only working to pay Amazon and DHL.

Selling on the Mexican platform does not make sense.
Looking at the rates is only the tip of the iceberg. Way more trouble below the surface.
Remove all listings from other platforms and do not allow international on your dot com listings. Disable synchronization so no other listings are created. Put the platform on vacation.

It gets worse.
When your listing is on the .mx or other site other than the country in which you are based, YOU are the one responsible for all import duties and tariffs.
After shipping your item by DHL, they may come back to you for even more money to cover those fees.
Follow April's advice. Put all of those other marketplaces on vacation mode, and delete any listings there. Unless you are really set up for international business (which very few are), it makes no sense.
Note that there are two ways to sell internationally; one if the other marketplaces, but it's also possible that, depending on your settings, a customer in another country can buy your item from the .com site. It is those cases where you get the international shipping fees charged to the customer (although this still is often too low), and the customer is responsible for import duties, etc. Much better as a seller than being active on the other marketplaces, but for less expensive items, not worth the hassle of allowing IMO (this is selected on the templates).
