Brand Name Already Registered to Inactive Brand
We are trying to set up our new listings on Amazon using our brand name - for example, “BrandName A”
However, we have not been able to get brand approval because seller support states that “BrandName A” is misusing another brands IP. We searched USPTO and Amazon, and haven’t found any brands with “BrandName A.”
We reached out to Brand Registry, and they told us there is an inactive brand with the IP. They also said we need to contact them through seller central, and seller central says the brand name is misusing another brands IP, and the circle continues…
Since the brand is inactive, why is Seller Support preventing us from getting brand approval for “BrandName A”?

Hi @Seller_sMxv1MZMpCilD,
My name is Dougal from the Community Manager team and I can hopefully assist with this issue. Thank you for the case ID's they were very helpful in understanding the full scope of what is going on.
I do have some questions regarding the response you received so I have created an internal escalation to hopefully get more information on the IP issue because same as you, I am not finding a TM for that brand name.
I will respond here once I have heard back from my contact and will ideally have some next steps for you.
In the interim, please feel free to ask any other questions here.
Best, Dougal
